Transactions - Transaction Manager

Use the Transaction Tab to view transaction data. You can define what transactions to select for display, and then review more detail for a selected transaction if desired. For example, you can view message history or XML payload detail for transactions as needed. Transactions are monitored in Transaction Manager from the time they are received from each Trading Partner to the time they are returned. In addition, Transaction Manager maintains statistical data on transactions received and transmitted.

Provider POS Direct does not support special characters. Make sure that no special characters are included in the administration information supplied through Transaction Manager. The following special characters are restricted:' " & < > / \ %

Real-Time Status Header Records

When a request is received by Transaction Manager, it creates a real-time transaction header record. Values included in the record (among others) are:

  • Unique session ID, used to logically group transaction requests

  • Trading Partner Identifier

  • Unique billing provider submitting the request

  • Rendering provider submitting the request

  • Nature of the transaction request, such as liability estimate, adjudication request

The record also includes statistical data for the billing provider, including the number of transactions received, the number of transactions subsequently processed and returned to the Trading Partner (summarized by response type—Successful, warning, and error), and the number of transactions currently “in-process.”

As each transaction is submitted to the Transaction Manager for processing, the Transaction Manager creates a Transaction Status record. This record includes (among other values) a Transaction ID, the source transaction identifier (Claim ID), the number of the session ID which the transaction was associated with, and the date/time the transaction was received.

As a transaction flows through Transaction Manager, the associated transaction status record is updated to reflect the current state of the transaction. In addition, a transaction history table is updated to record every action performed on the transaction.

Real-Time Monitoring (Real-Time Trading Partners)

With the information maintained by Transaction Manager, a user with access to the Transaction Manager web-based administration tool can monitor the following information in real-time:

  • Real-time transactions received by billing provider, categorized as Completed, Warning, or Error transactions

  • Number of transactions received, processed and returned for a provider

  • Section of an itinerary which is currently processing a transaction

  • Current location and reason for extended processing for transactions with an “in process” status

  • Transaction history
